Core rule
Error budget equals 1 minus the SLO target; the remaining budget sets change velocity, and an exhausted budget means a feature freeze.
Execution Phases
Phase 01Define SLIs
Express availability, latency and durability as good-events over total-events ratios in PromQL.
Phase 02Set SLO targets
Choose targets and windows (e.g. 28 days) from user expectations, business needs, current performance and cost of reliability.
Phase 03Error budget policy
Compute the budget and set actions at 50%, 10% and 0% remaining: postpone risky changes, freeze non-critical changes, freeze features.
Phase 04Rules, alerts, dashboards
Write Prometheus recording rules and fast and slow burn-rate alerts, and show compliance, remaining budget and trends in Grafana.
Permissions (summarised from SKILL.md)
| Capability | Needed | Details |
|---|---|---|
| File writes | Required | Writes SLO definitions, Prometheus recording and alert rules, error budget policy and Grafana dashboard config. |
| Command execution | Not required | A framework and template reference; it does not ask to run commands. |
| Network outbound | Not required | Does not ask to query Prometheus, Grafana or other external services. |
